Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

CIRCUIT DESCRIPTION
The Continuously Variable Road Sensing Suspension (CVRSS) control module monitors the supply voltage it provides to the steering sensor for out-of-range conditions. If the supply voltage is under 2.0 volts or over 8.0 volts, the code is set.

CONDITION FOR SETTING THE CODE "CURRENT"
When the CVRSS control module measures the steering sensor supply voltage below 2.0 volts or above 8.0 volts.

ACTIONS TAKEN WHEN CODE SETS "CURRENT"
^ The CVRSS control module assumes a steering angle of 0 degrees.
^ The "SERVICE RIDE CONTROL" message is displayed.

CONDITION FOR CODE TURNING "HISTORY"
The CVRSS control module senses a steering sensor supply voltage within the valid range.

HOW TO CLEAR THE CODE
^ Use the scan tool.
^ Use the On-Board diagnostic "CLEAR RSS CODES" feature.

TEST DESCRIPTION
The numbers below refer to step numbers on the diagnostic table.
2. Checks for an over voltage condition.
3. Checks for an under voltage condition.
4. Checks to see if fault is repeatable.
5. Checks for a short to voltage in circuit 1056A.
6. Determines if short to voltage is in sensor pigtail.
7. Checks to see if sensor is pulling circuit 1056A low.
8. Checks for a short to ground on circuit 1056A.
9. Checks to see if circuit 1 056A and 556A are shorted.
10. Checks the condition of terminals.
