Hydraulic Control Assembly - Antilock Brakes: Service and Repair
EBTCM/BPMV:

EBTCM/BPMV Assembly Removal:

REMOVE OR DISCONNECT
1. Negative battery cable.
2. Air cleaner assembly.
3. Three Electronic Brake/Traction Control Module (EBTCM)/Brake Pressure Modulator Valve (BPMV) assembly to bracket nuts.
4. EBTCM connector and BPMV motor ground cable.
5. Six brake pipe fittings.
Note: location of brake pipes to use as an aid during installation. Protect vehicle exterior from brake fluid spills when removing the BPMV. Excessive bending of brake pipes during BPMV removal or installation may cause permanent damage that will require replacement. Clean any brake fluid spillage from the BPMV.
6. EBTCM/BPMV assembly from vehicle.
7. Front insulator and insulator mounting bolt.
8. Four EBTCM to BPMV bolts.
NOTE: Do not pry the EBTCM from the BPMV as damage to the seal may result.
9. Separate EBTCM from BPMV by gently pulling forward until separated. Be careful not to damage the seal.
INSTALL OR CONNECT
1. EBTCM to BPMV. Tighten Four mounting bolts to 2 Nm (18 inch lbs.). Insulator bolt to 15 Nm (11 ft. lbs.).
2. Position EBTCM/BPMV assembly in bracket and install insulators and bracket Nuts. Tighten to 10 Nm (89 inch lbs.).
3. If a new BPMV is being installed, remove shipping plugs from valve openings.
CAUTION: Make sure brake pipes are correctly connected to BPMV. If brake pipes are switched by mistake, wheel lockup will occur and personal injury may result. The only safe way this condition can be detected is by using the scan tool.
4. Six brake pipe fittings, using locations noted during removal. Tighten Brake pipe fittings at BPMV to 18 Nm (13 ft lbs.).
5. EBTCM electrical connector and motor ground cable connector. Make sure the EBTCM connector tab is locked down.
6. Air cleaner assembly.
7. Negative battery cable.
8. Fill and bleed hydraulic brake system. Refer to Brake Bleeding. Service and Repair
9. Perform auto bleed procedure.
10. Using the scan tool, perform an auto test and check if any DTCs have been set. Repair as necessary.
