Operation CHARM: Car repair manuals for everyone.
Manuals through 2025 now available!

Our trusted friends have launched a new website named LEMON, which has newer manuals. It also contains all the CHARM manuals.

LEMON is the spiritual successor to CHARM, I recommend you try it!

Warning System Operation

The "BRAKE" warning light in the instrument panel cluster will illuminate to warn the driver of conditions in the brake system which may result in reduced braking ability. It will also illuminate when the parking brake is applied or not fully released. Conditions which turn on the "BRAKE" warning light include the following:
1. Parking brake not fully released. If the parking brake is applied or not fully released, the switch on the parking brake pedal assembly will ground the "BRAKE" light circuit and cause the light to turn on.
2. Low brake fluid. The fluid level sensor in the master cylinder reservoir grounds the warning light line if low brake fluid is detected.
3. Instrument panel bulb check. When the ignition is turned to START, the BRAKE light will turn on. The light should turn "OFF" with the ignition switch in the RUN position.
