On vehicles equipped with digital Clusters, the engine RPM and coolant temperature display will be if a Malfunction occurs in the serial data communications from the IPC to the PCM. This symptom should be diagnosed by retrieving and diagnosing IPC or PCM serial data communication DTCs.
