Oil Filter Adapter: Service and Repair

REMOVAL
1. Raise the vehicle.
2. Remove the splash shield at the right front corner of the engine cradle.
3. Remove the oil filter.
4. Remove the oil cooler lines at the adapter, if equipped.





5. Remove the adapter mounting bolts (2) and partially remove the adapter.
6. Disconnect the oil pressure switch.
7. Remove the adapter and discard the O-rings.
8. Remove the oil pressure switch.

INSTALLATION
1. Install the new O-rings. Petrolatum may be used to retain the O-rings in the adapter.
2. Install the oil pressure switch to the adapter.
3. Position the adapter near the crankcase and connect the oil pressure switch.
4. Install the oil filter adapter with two bolts. Tighten the bolts to 16 Nm (12 ft. lbs.).
5. Install the oil cooler lines, if equipped, using new O-rings. Tighten the O-rings to 18 Nm (13 ft. lbs.).

CAUTION: Fill the oil filter with the engine oil before installing.

6. Install the oil filter.
7. Install the splash shield.
8. Lower the vehicle.
9. Adjust the oil level to the full mark.
