Front Crankshaft Seal: Service and Repair

TOOL REQUIRED
^ J 38818 Front Cover Seal Installer
^ J 39344 Crankshaft Balancer Installer

REMOVAL
1. Remove the crankshaft balancer.





2. Pry out the front cover seal using a screwdriver or a prybar. Use caution to prevent gouging of the front cover bore or crankshaft.

INSTALLATION
1. Lubricate the seal lips with engine oil.
2. Position the seal to the front cover with the garter spring side toward the engine.





3. Push seal into the engine front cover until the tool bottoms on the cover using the Front Cover Seal Installer and the Crankshaft Balancer Installer.
4. Install the crankshaft balancer.
