Water Pump: Description and Operation

OPERATION
The water pump takes coolant from the radiator and passes the coolant through the thermostat and then into the engine block. The water pump housing includes a cast crossover pipe that returns the coolant exiting the engine block back to the radiator and the pump. The water pump housing is made of aluminum. The housing (5) and cover (1) contain the following components:

^ A housing to water pump o-ring seal (4)
^ A water pump cover gasket (2)
