Evaporator Core Removal










Remove or Disconnect
1. Recover refrigerant.
2. Negative battery cable.
3. Drain Radiator.
4. Right side sound insulator.
5. Glove box.
6. Electrical connectors, vacuum connector and programmer.
7. Loosen Instrument Panel (I/P) brace.
8. Bolt securing evaporator core housing to front of dash (bolt is located above carpet directly behind left side of console).
9. Heater core.
10. Cross car brace.
11. Vapor (evaporator/accumulator) line.
12. Liquid line from evaporator.
13. Two bolts securing harness pass-through to front of dash.
14. Electrical connectors:
^ Oxygen sensor, blower motor, A/C high and low pressure temperature sensors, A/C fan switch, and A/C low pressure switch.
15. Ignition Control Module.
16. Coolant bypass hose from coolant tank.
17. Air filter housing and PCV valve.
18. Left hand radiator core support and radiator shroud.
19. Electrical connectors:
^ Park/Neutral position switch, map sensor, cruise control servo, and release wiring harness from body.
20. Brake booster hose.
21. Left and Right engine struts and bracket.
22. Upper transmission cooler line.
23. Left and Right coolant fans.
24. Discharge line at condenser and suction line from accumulator.
25. Raise and support vehicle.
26. Left and Right front wheels.
27. Fuel line bracket from transmission.
28. Intermediate shaft pinch bolt from rack and pinion gear.

WARNING: Failure to disconnect the intermediate shaft from the rack and pinion stub shaft can result in damage to the steering gear and/or intermediate shaft. This damage can cause loss of steering control which could result in vehicle crash with possible bodily Injury.

29. Splash shields for radiator, transmission and left wheel housing.
30. ABS unit from cradle bracket.
31. Electrical connectors:
^ P/S pressure switch, vehicle speed sensor, knock sensor and engine ground wire.
32. Exhaust manifold pipe from converter.
33. Left and Right brake calipers.
34. Left and Right vehicle speed sensors from body.
35. Rear cradle frame bolts, loosen remaining cradle bolts.
36. Lower vehicle onto cradle support stand.
37. Remove remaining cradle bolts.
38. Struts from strut towers.
39. Raise vehicle to lower powertrain/cradle assembly.
40. Wire harness on right bank valve cover and position harness out of way.
41. Exhaust manifold pipe heat shield.
42. Blower motor.
43. Evaporator core access plate and liquid line brace.
44. Evaporator core rubber barrier cover.
45. Cut lower portion of case.
46. Evaporator core cover.
47. Evaporator core.
