Some of the above listed vehicles may exhibit an Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) Diagnostic Trouble Code (DTC) B1910 set current (ignition ON, engine not running) or history. This DTC does not result in an illuminated warning lamp or Driver Information Center message. In addition, this condition does not affect the performance or durability of the generator.
The DTC is being set due to a sensitivity between the generator voltage regulator and the vehicle electrical system, and is not caused by a defect in the generator or in the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC).
If a vehicle exhibits this condition, do not attempt a repair by replacement of the generator or the Instrument Panel Cluster without further diagnostic verification.
If the charging system exhibits symptoms requiring diagnosis on vehicles with this condition, confirm proper generator operation using the following procedure:
Important:
DTC B1910 by itself on these vehicles does not indicate the need to follow this procedure.
1. Using a DMM, check circuit 225 (RED) for an open, from the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) connector C1 pin A9 to the generator pin L.
2. Check the Instrument Panel Cluster (IPC) connector C3, harness inline connector C101, and the generator connector for proper connection.
3. Perform a generator functional check per Section 6D1 in the Service Manual.
