Fuel Filter to Fuel Sender Hose and Pipe
FUEL HOSE AND PIPE REPLACEMENTNotice: If nylon fuel feed or return pipes become kinked, and cannot be straightened, they must be replaced.
Removal Procedure
Notice: Numbers in text correspond to numbered components in image.
1. Remove the negative battery cable.
2. Relieve the fuel system pressure. Refer to Fuel Pressure Release.
3. Raise the vehicle and suitably support.
Fuel Tank And Fuel Supply Lines:

4. Remove the quick-connect fittings at fuel feed (4) and return (6) pipes. Refer to Fuel Filter / Service and Repair.
EVAP Canister:

5. Remove the hardware retaining section of hose to be replaced. Inspect the location of attaching hardware for installation.
6. Remove the fuel tank. Refer to Fuel Tank / Service and Repair.
7. Remove the section of pipe to be replaced.
Installation Procedure
Caution: To Reduce the Risk of Fire and Personal In jury:
^ If nylon fuel pipes are nicked, scratched or damaged during installation, they must be replaced.
^ When installing new fuel pipes, Do Not hammer directly on the fuel harness body clips as it may damage the nylon pipes resulting in a possible fuel leak.
^ Before connecting fuel pipe fittings, always apply a few drops of clean engine oil to the male pipe ends. This will ensure proper reconnection and prevent a possible fuel leak. (During normal operation, the O-rings located in the female connector will swell and may prevent proper reconnection if not lubricated.)
1. Position the new fuel pipe in original location.
2. Remove the protective caps from fuel pipe.

3. Apply a few drops of clean engine oil to the male connector pipe end.
4. Install the quick-connect fitting at fuel sender.

4.1. Push connector together to cause the retaining tabs/fingers to snap into place.

5. Pull on both ends of connection to make sure connection is secure once installed.
6. Install the fuel tank. Refer to Fuel Tank / Service and Repair.
7. Install the retaining hardware.
8. Repeat connect procedure for fuel filter fuel pipe quick-connectors.
9. Lower the vehicle.
10. Tighten the fuel filler cap.
11. Install the negative battery cable.
12. Inspect for leaks.
12.1. Turn the ignition switch ON for 2 seconds.
12.2. Turn the ignition switch OFF for 5 seconds.
12.3. Turn the ignition switch ON.
12.4. Check for fuel leaks.
