Enabling the SIR System

Important
With the SIR Fuse removed and the ignition switch in the RUN position, the AIR BAG warning lamp illuminates. This is normal operation and does not indicate a SIR system malfunction.

^ Remove the key from the ignition switch.
1. The passenger yellow 2-way connector and the CPA through the trap door in the I/P compartment.
2. The driver yellow 2-way connector and the CPA located near the base of the steering column.
3. The sound insulator, LH, refer to Sound Insulators in Instrument Panel Console and Gauges.
4. The SIR Fuse to the trunk compartment fuse block.
^ Staying well away from the frontal air bags, turn the ignition switch to the RUN position. Verify that the AIR BAG warning lamp flashes 7 times and then stays off. If the AIR BAG warning lamp does not operate as described, perform the SIR DIAGNOSTIC SYSTEM CHECK.
