Spare Tire: Service and Repair

The high pressure compact spare has a narrow 102 mm (4 inch) wide rim. It should be used only on a vehicle which had it as original equipment. Also, the compact spare wheel should not be used with standard tires, snow tires, wheel covers or trim rings. If such is attempted, damage to these items or other parts of the vehicle may occur.

CAUTION: To avoid serious personal injury, do not stand over the tire when inflating. The Bead may break when the bead snaps over safety hump. Do not exceed 275 kPa (40 psi) pressure when inflating any tire if beads are not seated. If 275 kPa (40 psi) pressure will not seat beads, deflate, relubricate the beads and reinflate. Overinflating may cause the bead to break and may cause serious injury.

The tire can be mounted and dismounted using present tire changing equipment and procedures. As with other tires, the beads should completely seat at 275 kPa (40 psi). The tire may then be safely inflated to and maintained at 415 kPa (60 psi).
